What does a boat taxi in the Stockholm archipelago cost?
There is no fixed tariff for boat taxis here. The price is set by whoever drives, and it comes down to three things: how far it is, how far away the boat is when you book, and what time of day you want to travel. On Wyber local boat owners bid on your trip, so you compare several real prices instead of accepting one company's rate.
How the price is built up
- Call-out. Getting the boat ready and out to the pick-up point. If the skipper is already nearby that part is small — which is why local boats beat a taxi boat coming from a distant harbour.
- Distance. Fuel and time for the crossing itself, counted in nautical miles.
- Time of day and weather. Late evenings, early mornings and rough seas cost more.
- Boat size. More passengers, a lot of luggage, bikes or a dog means a bigger boat.

Per boat, not per person
The price covers the boat. With four people on board you split the same amount, which often puts a boat taxi close to the per-person cost of the scheduled ferry — except you leave when you want and step ashore at the right jetty.
How to keep the price down
- Post the trip well in advance — more skippers have time to bid, and competition pushes the price down.
- Be flexible about the time; half an hour of margin can match you with a boat that is already out.
- Choose a pick-up point close to where boats already lie rather than deep inside a bay.
- Travel together. The price is for the boat, so a group of six pays the same as a couple.
